SECOND CHILDHOOD

Good Health (Australia) - - Be Informed -

Hated PE as a kid? Bad news – it likely shaped how you feel about exercise today. Researchers from Iowa State University questioned more than a thousand adults, aged 18-40, and asked them to rate their memories of PE and how they felt about exercise today – as well as their physical activity habits. Researchers said that people’s memories of PE were surprisingly “vivid and emotionally charged” – and cast a long shadow. Those who had unpleasant recollections were consistently more likely to say they didn’t like exercise now and didn’t plan to exercise in the coming days. On the other hand, those who relished their gym classes were more likely to report being active on weekends.
