FASHION DIRECTOR

Our fashion team got a recent boost thanks to the super-talented Hume, who took the reins just in time for Men of the Year, with no fewer than 13 shoots to prep. “I definitely hit the ground running,” she admits. “We began shooting the week after I started, which has been both incredibly rewarding and highly stressful.”

GOT A FAVOURITE SHOOT?

The diversity of talent I’ve shot is what I loved the most for this issue, but in terms of my personal aesthetic, I really enjoyed Cody Simpson (p140). His level of fame at such a young age is mind-blowing and shooting him as a modern cowboy felt very appropriate.

AGREED. ANY TIPS FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO GET INTO STYLING?

Interning is a great way to get a foot in the door, but the biggest mistake is not treating it like a proper job. This is your chance to show the team what you are made of and how committed you would be, should you be offered a staff role. Give it all you’ve got.

WHO ARE YOU A FAN OF, STYLE-WISE?

My ultimate style icon has to be Ryan Gosling in Crazy Stupid Love. Mildly humiliating, I know, but he absolutely nails it in every single scene – original, sexy and classic, with a twist. Oh, and my husband of course – he knows what works for him and sticks to it. He has the physique of a rugby player but isn’t afraid of a shirt/pocket square contrast and a beautiful pair of shoes.
