| GQ DOES KOREATOWN
ENJOY THE CITY OF ANGELS LIKE A LOCAL IN THIS COOL, UP-ANDCOMING DISTRICT.
As a wise old lady once sang, “Everybody comes to Hollywood.” While Madonna’s wrong about most things – wearing ‘grills’, French-kissing Drake, pumping god-knows-what into her face – here, she’s hit the nail on the head. La La Land is always a go-to, but instead of tourist traps, point the cab driver towards Koreatown – 8km2 of neon-lit, karaokefuelled fun, food and funky cocktails. Everyone will say a car is a necessity in LA, though this neighbourhood is all in walking distance. Plus, with the district as a base, Downtown LA and West Hollywood are easy train trips, with Venice Beach but an Uber ride away. For a realer, cooler LA experience, K-town is the ticket. And for those who can’t resist the Walk of Fame, jump on the metro. Marilyn’s star is by Mcdonald’s.
