ALICE WASLEY

GQ (Australia) - - INSIDE -

WRITER

We called on New York-based Wasley to charm the superhero pants off Mr Ryan Reynolds. She did. Turn to p40 to see the results.

SO, HOW WAS MR REYNOLDS?

He was the anticipated amount of handsome, so, quite handsome. On top of that, he was seemingly genuine, charming and quick to take the piss out of himself. I say seemingly because, well, actors are actors. But, even if he is truly a dick deep down, at least he took the time to pretend otherwise.

WHAT TOOK YOU BY SURPRISE?

He swore freely and with vigour.

OTHER GUYS YOU’VE INTERVIEWED/CRUSHED ON?

Ryan Gosling as I’m human, and not immune to his sweet, soulful Goslingness. And I found Russell Brand disturbingly attractive.

REALLY? MOVING ON. HOW EXTENSIVE IS YOUR PREP?

Generally, I watch or read whatever they’re spruiking and read previous interviews. I definitely do some social media stalking. You never know what little nugget might be buried in there.

DO YOU GET NERVOUS BEFORE TALKING TO CELEBS?

Only if I know I have to bring up something sensitive that they’re not going to want to talk about. But I’m not doing my job if I don’t ask the question.

ADVICE FOR BUDDING JOURNALISTS?

Say yes when someone asks you to do something. Then figure out how to do it.
