PHOTOGRAPHER

We have Barry to thank for our beautiful ‘Survival Mode’ (p178) and sexy Bridget Malcolm (p164) shoots.

YOU SHOT IN THE COLD OF NEW JERSEY. WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION HERE?

It was the land, it was about a traveller living off the land and all he owned is what was on his back. It was -10ºc that day so it was a challenge, but the whole team loved working in the elements – that’s when I feel most at home.

HOW WAS BRIDGET MALCOLM?

Bridget was great. We’ve worked together before so it wasn’t like we met for the first time, and then I asked her to take her clothes off.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT BEING A PHOTOGRAPHER?

Seeing ideas come to life. It starts out as a concept but when you see it through the camera, I get very excited – I love it. Also, working with people that want the same result and are on the same page, is important. It’s all about the picture, not the ego.

WHO’S ON YOUR BUCKET LIST TO SHOOT?

Neil Young, Jack White, Buddy Guy. I’m always trying to photograph people that inspire me and capture them in a different way.

ANY OTHER PASSIONS THAT MIGHT SURPRISE PEOPLE?

I like woodwork and building things with my hands. We live on five acres so I have a lot of projects to keep me busy every day.
