‘Pick it, pack it/fire it up, come along…’ sang Sen Dog a while back. And clearly certain LA studio execs have had Cypress Hill on high rotation with several producers scrambling to deliver potent, weed-infused small-screen content this year. Beyond the ongoing brilliance of High Maintenance and its march into the mainstream, Kevin ‘ Mallrats isn’t shit’ Smith’s recently wrapped on anticipated comedy series Hollyweed, set in an LA dispensary, while Two and a Half Men’s Chuck Lorre is shopping about an untitled pot comedy set in a Colorado dispensary. It’s the same setting as planned series Buds, which has certain commitments from NBC, while Amazon’s increased development slate sees Highland, starring Margaret Cho, also set for delivery. Now, pass the spliff (and turn to p172 to read about Australia’s burgeoning ‘legal’ marijuana industry).
