JAMES BROWN

HAIRSTYLIST

Why style one supermodel when you can style five at once? We kept Brown, aka good friend of Ms Kate Moss, busy with a bevy of brawn on our London ‘Five of a Kind’ shoot (p200).

WHICH OF THE FIVE MODELS HAS THE BEST HAIR, AND WHY?

I couldn’t choose one. They’ve all got great hair in their own and completely individual way.

TIPS ON STYLING CURLY HAIR LIKE JUSTICE JOSLIN’S?

Always keep it simple. The key for this hair type is moisture, to keep it healthy and manageable. Go with it rather than against it.

HOW DO YOU KEEP JARROD SCOTT’S LOCKS IN CHECK?

Regular trims and a good shampoo and conditioner.

OUR HAIR INSPIRATION AT THE MOMENT IS JAKE GYLLENHAAL. WHO’S YOURS?

Jared Leto or Johnny Depp. With Jared, I love that you never know what he’s going to do – he could be totally conservative or go for a bleached look with pink ends. They both know what suits them and aren’t afraid to be experimental.

HAVE YOU EVER DEEMED A TALENT’S HAIR UNWORKABLE?

No, but I have had models with no hair to work with!

WHAT STYLES WILL SHAPE 2017?

There’s no particular style at the forefront, but I do feel that the new emphasis will be on super-long, grungy hair, as the focus has been on short styles for a while now.
