Omega’s new diver adds colour to the trend for all-black timepieces.

TAKING A DEEP DIVE INTO OMEGA’S LATEST PIECE.

GQ (Australia) - - INSIDE -

First revealed in June of last year, you can now finally get your hands on an Omega ‘Planet Ocean Deep Black Collection’. With its 45.5mm ceramic case, METAS (Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology) certification for magnetic resistance and 60-hour reserve, this diving watch has integrity but, to be deeply superficial, it’s all about the stunning new colour. This may well mean we’ve reached peak all-black pieces, so think of its stylistic variations with colour accents – in gold (pictured, left), blue or red – like a pop of colour on a dark outfit. Shades aside, there are other differences – the black and gold accented editions have polished cases and dials, while the coloured models are brush finished. And the gold version comes with a leather strap, despite the other models boasting fabric-looking rubber. Take your pick, but in GQ’S opinion the red version goes faster – while keeping perfect time.
