A TASTE OF SAN FRAN

LIBERAL VIEWS, A VIBRANT MIX OF PEOPLE AND A CONTEMPORARY HISTORY PROUDLY ASSOCIATED WITH COUNTERCULTURE AND GAY ACTIVISM - THE CITY BY THE BAY IS A TRUMP SUPPORTER’S WORST NIGHTMARE. WHICH IS WHY IT’S TIME TO PAY A VISIT.

GQ (Australia) - - TASTE + TRAVEL -

Just an hour’s flight from LA, San Francisco feels like it could be a world away. This Californian city is Tinseltown’s more charming, less wheatgrass-obsessed hipster brother who’s not only cooler (climate and vibe), but more eclectic. Squeezed into 121km2 – an area roughly 100 times smaller than Sydney – it’s an ever-evolving melting pot of global cultures. It’s also postcard pretty. Framed by the spectacular bay, San Francisco is rich in both natural and manmade beauty – from the lush greenery of Golden Gate Park to the views atop the famed zigzag Lombard Street – a city that seems to have been created with Instagram in mind. It’s also the place that gave us Soylent, the meal-replacement powder that aims to do away with food altogether. But don’t be fooled – San Fran is one of the world’s great foodie capitals, with an endless appetite for new gastronomic trends and inventive restaurants. Be sure to pack your eating trousers.
