HARRY ST YLES

LESSON: STAND OUT FROM THE PACK

GQ (Australia) - - CARS -

Yes, he was in a boy band. Certainly the most successful boy band of our time. But it was only after One Direction split that we discovered who Styles really is – and while we’ll say nothing of his former band mates’ efforts, turns out Styles can actually sing. The 23-year-old recognised the need to grow up from his teen-friendly image, quickly establishing himself as a style icon and, more importantly, produced the goods where it counts: music. His self-titled debut was the furthest thing from what anyone expected and instead of taking the easy route and phoning in over-produced, sugar-sweet pop, he delivered an album packed with soaring vocals and genuine old-school charm. Truth is, chances don’t come along that often, so make sure they count.
