Af­ter an­nounc­ing a part­ner­ship with Ocean Con­ser­vancy in March, Bre­itling launched a ‘Squad’ ini­tia­tive, cre­at­ing teams of am­bas­sadors who ex­cel in spe­cific fields to club to­gether for a com­mon goal. The Surfers Squad in­cludes Kelly Slater, Stephanie Gil­more and Sally Fitzgib­bons – their goal, to raise aware­ness of the fight to keep our oceans and beaches clean. Slater told “We only have this one planet and we're do­ing our best to screw it up re­ally badly. So we need to align busi­ness and cor­po­ra­tions with mes­sag­ing around clean­ing up things from the out­set.” The re­la­tion­ship also in­volves his sus­tain­able cloth­ing brand, Outer­known, which will be de­sign­ing the band for one of Bre­itling’s watches. “Our tagline is, ‘For peo­ple and planet’,” con­tin­ues Slater, “so it's so­cial com­pli­ance. When we brought up the Ocean Con­ser­vancy and also do­ing co-brand­ing with Outer­known, Bre­itling was to­tally on board. They were su­per gen­er­ous with the things they want to do.” Mean­while, mem­bers of the Cin­ema Squad in­clude Adam Driver, Char­l­ize Theron and Brad Pitt. We look for­ward to hear­ing more.
