WACFL life mem­ber­ship con­ferred on Butterworth

For­mer gen­eral man­ager of the Up­per Great South­ern Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion Barry Butterworth was awarded a WACFL life mem­ber­ship be­fore the start of this year’s Land­mark Coun­try Foot­ball Cham­pi­onships.

Mr Butterworth was the gen­eral man­ager of the UGSFL from 2001 to 2014 and was nom­i­nated for the life mem­ber­ship for his ex­ten­sive ser­vices to coun­try foot­ball.

He was elected to the WACFL board in 2005 and served as an ex­ec­u­tive mem­ber un­til 2015.

Butterworth is now chair­man of the Peel Foot­ball and Net­ball League, a role he took on af­ter re­lo­cat­ing to Ravenswood.

He has been a long-time sup­porter of the Great South­ern Colts Car­ni­val and had a strong role in the pro­duc­tion of the his­tory book A Way of Life.

Mr Butterworth was given his life mem­ber­ship badge at the Land­mark launch func­tion, where he was in­ter­viewed by for­mer Fre­man­tle Dock­ers player Peter Bell.
