Finals glory attained
The Central Great Southern Hockey Association grand finals were held in Woodanilling on Saturday, September 16, with all six teams performing well despite the unusual winter heat.
The juniors game saw Woodanilling defeat Katanning 4-1; however, Katanning’s Brayden Keley was too good taking out best on ground.
The association fairest and best award went to Shaun Shackley of Woodanilling with runner-up awarded to Jake Ednie-Brown from Kojonup.
The Woodanilling women’s team broke a 12-year drought after winning the grand final against Tambellup 2-0. Tambellup’s Jess McPartland was named best on ground.
The women’s fairest and best resulted in a tie between Kiara Flynn from Woodanilling and Tambellup’s Tara Simpson.
The men’s grand final was dominated by Tambellup, defeating Woodanilling 2-0. Best on ground went to Tambellup’s Leon Squibb.
Katanning’s Zac Hatfield won the fairest and best of the association.
