Police are hunting for an offender with butchering skills, after 10 lambs were slaughtered and butchered for their meat over the past month at a Gnowangerup property.
Gnowangerup police said the cause of death was not yet known, but it was likely they were shot.
“Someone’s actually driven onto the property; there is no proof as to how they died, but being shot is the only logical explanation,” Gnowangerup Police Sergeant Tracey Keown said.
The bizarre slaughtering of the lambs has left police concerned and the criminal could face a number of charges if found.
“They’ve trespassed because they have gone onto the property as well as they’ve killed an animal and stolen the meat,” Sgt Keown said.
The animals, which were about six months old were worth $60 a head, but would have been worth $100 in a few months time.
Gnowangerup police are calling on the public for any further information.
