School cel­e­brates Book Week in style

There were age-old char­ac­ters and mod­ern twists at St Pa­trick’s Pri­mary School’s Book Week cel­e­bra­tions last week.

Chil­dren dressed up as their favourite book char­ac­ter as part of the na­tional week de­signed to en­cour­age chil­dren to read more.

Teach­ers got in on the act too, with a se­lec­tion of pi­rates, bad wolves, paper bag princesses and lit­tle pigs all to be seen dur­ing the morn­ing’s fun.

St Pa­trick’s act­ing prin­ci­pal An­drew Gam­mon said he was thrilled to see all the chil­dren and staff get­ting into the spirit of Book Week.

“Read­ing is the foun­da­tion for all fu­ture learn­ing and it’s great to see their en­thu­si­asm for books,” he said.

Alice, Ge­or­gia and Mar­garet Bushell in cos­tume.

Miss Pon­tillo, Mrs Robin­son, Mrs Wil­ley and Mrs Run­dle dress up as the Three Lit­tle Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf as­part of Book Week.
