An elderly Albany man facing historical sexual abuse charges dating back more than four decades will likely face trial next year after denying 10 charges.

Harold Clasen appeared in Albany Magistrate’s Court last Thursday, and pleaded not guilty to the 10 charges, including four counts of indecent dealing with a child under 14, four counts of unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under 13, and two counts of indecently dealing with a girl under 13.

Perth detectives, with the assistance of Albany detectives, charged Mr Clasen in March as a result of an investigation into allegations of historical child sexual abuse.

The court heard the offences were allegedly committed between June 1965 and October 1983 in West River, Mt Madden and Ravensthorpe.

The charges were remanded to Albany District Court for a trial listing hearing on January 22.
