‘Music junkie’ moves on from RTRFM

Guardian Express - - NEWS -

OUTGOING RTRFM general manager Jason Cleary says the community broadcaster is well placed to deal with challenges facing radio in the future.

Mr Cleary recently announced he would be finishing at the station before the end of the year.

He said his decision was not made lightly but would be a positive step, enabling him to focus on his young family and take up an exciting business opportunity.

The Mt-Lawley-based station is now on the search for a new general manager.

“It has been an immense pleasure and privilege to lead RTRFM, a place that first made me aware of what music really should sound like and a place that has been an oasis for a music junkie like myself,” Mr Cleary said.

“There are many challenges facing radio in the future, but I believe RTRFM is well placed to weather whatever is thrown at it, due to the dedication and talents of all the people involved.

“I will certainly still be involved in the station wherever I can.”

RTRFM board of directors chairman Rewi Lyall said he wished Mr Cleary every success.

“Jason has made some really fantastic advances for the station, and will leave knowing that we are a stable, sustainable community organisation,” Mr Lyall said.

“The board of RTRFM will be sad to see him leave the role, as I'm sure will all members.”
