Grant prom­ises fresh new dis­cov­er­ies

SCITECH’S early child­hood zone Dis­cover-land is one step closer to a re­fur­bish­ment with a re­cent grant of $250,000.

The sci­ence ed­u­ca­tion cen­tre re­ceived the grant through Lot­tery­west this month.

The grant will con­trib­ute to­wards a $402,000 re­fur­bish­ment of the zone and will al­low a larger space with new ex­hibits.

“The out­come will be a dy­namic in­ter­ac­tive space where 0-5 year olds can dis­cover and ex­plore STEM (sci­ence, tech­nol­ogy, en­gi­neer­ing and math­e­mat­ics) con­cepts us­ing mod­ern learn­ing ap­proaches,” Scitech chief ex­ec­u­tive Alan Brien said.

Re­fur­bish­ments works are sched­uled to be­gin this year with com­ple­tion an­tic­i­pated for May 2018.
