Schools, arts the big win­ners

ED­U­CA­TION and arts were the big­gest win­ners in the in­ner city area from last week’s State Bud­get.

The State Govern­ment made good on its cam­paign prom­ises to com­mit $120,000 to com­mu­nity ra­dio sta­tion RTRFM.

Gen­eral man­ager Stu­art Ma­cLeod said the money would would go to­wards ex­pand­ing con­tent.

Mean­while, $4 mil­lion was set aside for ma­jor re­builds at Mt Law­ley Se­nior High School and $3.5 mil­lion for Mt Hawthorn Pri­mary School and $350,000 at Yokine Pri­mary School for up­grades.

The Govern­ment al­lo­cated $68 mil­lion for stage one of the new in­ner city sec­ondary col­lege at Kitch­ener Park in Su­bi­aco will al­low for con­struc­tion to start in mid-2018.
