Teenager charged with armed robbery

Guardian Express - - CITY OF PERTH -

A MANDURAH man (18) was allegedly armed with a corkscrew when he took a mobile phone from a woman in Wellington Street late on September 16.

“She followed, begging for the accused to give her phone back to her repeatedly, but it will be alleged he stopped, turned and said ‘If you follow me, I’ll stab you’,” Senior Sergeant Craig Davis said.

The woman said she saw the man hold an object as she continued shouting at him up a Wellington Street lane, where other members of the public joined in her protests.

It will be alleged that when police arrived a short time later the mobile phone and a light blue corkscrew bottle opener utensil about 10cm long were both in the man’s waistband.

He was charged with robbery while armed, refused bail and remanded in custody to appear at Perth Magistrates Court on October 18.
