Be Bushfire Ready!

Guardian Express - - NEWS IN BRIEF -

The City of Bayswater is seeking expressions of interest from potential operators to lease the café/kiosk at The RISE in Maylands.

The RISE multipurpose community hub is a popular centre close to Maylands town centre that caters for a wide range of activities; with facilities including sports courts, gymnasium, function and meeting rooms, offices and a crèche. The RISE is also home to the Maylands Library.

To find out more about this business opportunity, call Tim Wright at the City of Bayswater on phone 9272 0979 or email tim.wright@bayswater.wa.gov.au

Expressions of interest close on Tuesday, 31 October 2017. As warmer weather approaches and the bushfire season gets underway, now is a good time for residents to ensure their property is bushfire ready. The bushfire season can pose a serious threat to property and it is important that homeowners take a proactive approach to reducing any risk.

For blocks over 2000 square metres a three metre fire break should be established around the perimeter. For smaller properties, owners should remove flammable material, such as dead plants and long dry grass, from the entire block and lawns should be mowed regularly.

With high temperatures once again predicted for summer, it makes sense to be bushfire aware and ready.

The bushfire season runs from 1 November 2017 to 30 April 2018.
