[Bars 105- end] For the solo, John generally follows the chord sequence either with power chords or basic root and 3rd or first inversion doublestops. This solo is dominated by its sound, so you can afford to be quite extreme with your distortion to create the wild feedback towards the end. The phase shifter needs quite a slow ‘swirl’ to avoid a tremolo type effect and to create that classic ‘gritted teeth’ sound where it turns around.
