This ex­am­ple shows two short but im­por­tant snip­pets from the cir­cle of 4ths: first, the IIm V I pro­gres­sion in bars 1-3; sec­ondly, the VI IIm V I pro­gres­sion in bars 5-7. These pro­gres­sions are very com­mon in jazz. De­spite be­ing only a few short links in the chain you should still be hear­ing the cir­cle of 4ths. One fi­nal point, note the B7 in bars 15-16 - this is con­sid­ered as V/ V, the dom­i­nant of the dom­i­nant!
