Guitar Techniques - - Lesson: Jazz -

Scofield leads in around Bb7 (bar 31) then moves into Bb Blues scale on the Bb7 chord and suggests Bb7#5 resolving to the Eb7. The following two bars feature a characteristic ‘out’ sounding double-stop major 7th idea sliding into the Fm7 then Eb7. Over the Eb7 he comes down Eb9#11, then moves back up Edim7 and anticipates the Bb7 chord, playing around Bb Mixolydian then Eb Lydian b7 over the Eb9, ending back around Bb7 sliding up to the B to suggest G7. On the Cm7 he returns to the major 7th double-stop idea, then progresses into a Bb Minor moving to chromatic triplet idea over the F7 and turnaround and ending on an double-stop 11th interval on the root and 5th (F) on the Bb7.
