Pedal tones abound in clas­si­cal mu­sic and the idea (to play a melody against a static note) is as ef­fec­tive now as it has ever been. Play­ers like Larry Carl­ton use in­ter­val­lic ideas like this to great ef­fect. For this ex­am­ple the notes on the fourth string are played with down picks and the notes on the sec­ond string are plucked with the sec­ond fin­ger. Keep the tim­ing even and add some fin­ger vi­brato bar 70.
