EIn this example (using bars 8-12 of a 12-bar blues sequence) the harmonic ' thinking' has been included above the tab. Notice how chord movement has been created in the second bar by alternating between F7 and Cm7 shapes. The Dm7 chord in bar 3 has the 5th (A) omitted to allow it to function as a Bb9 voicing (A = major 7th of Bb, not good!). Relatively simple ideas such as this can spice up your playing with extraordinary results.
