Example2 Combining Eighth and 16th notes
The first bar is made up entirely of 16th notes and rests. Count ‘1 e & a 2 e & a 3 e & a 4 e & a’ to keep track of the subdivisions in each of the 4 main beats per bar. When you see a rest keep counting, but stop the string from ringing rather than picking. The second bar incorporates eighth notes with 16ths in three different combinations. The rhythm is the same as the first bar, but a few notes sustain for longer.
