The problem is that the melody is tangled into the accompaniment and the accompaniment has lower notes on a higher string and visa versa, making it counter-intuitive. So follow the tab anEbd aim to play the melody notes louder than the accompaniment. A barre is needed on the last beat and barres are also needed throughout bar 15.
Bar 16 is fiddly again so following the tab carefully is much easier than trying to read notes. However, do pay attention to the fretting-hand fingering next to the note heads as this is the only way it is playable.
