Major 13th chords sound clean and wide, but can also be lush (think Blue Lagoon). This progression uses static Major 13 chords to hold clean-cut modern harmony. Some of these voicings are derived from the shapes shown earlier, but shape 2 is somewhat tricky to play with a difficult stretch (you can always reposition the root onto the fifth string, although this makes it more like shape 3).
