Example4 Mixing double-stops, octaves, chords and single-note lines

Guitar Techniques - - INTRO -

EThis idea begins with a simple but effective G minor idea based around a descending line against a held ostinato C note. The idea progressed onto possibly the most known device in Montgomery’s soloing arsenal, the use of octaves stroked with the thumb, although in this example he produces a multilayered sound by bouncing between questioning octaves and answering chord fragments. These ideas are simple but hugely musically effective.
