EXAMPLE PRINCE STYLE

It’s time to rock! Prince was more than just competent as a lead guitarist – he was a monster! So step on the fuzz box and wah-wah ped2al and let rip! Prince often used the wah as a tone filter, as at the end of let’s Go Crazy. Getting the treadle in just the right place really helps the guitar to scream. Prince was a fan of playing string bends high up the fretboard and much of his lead work was inspired by players like Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck and Steve vai. Watch out for the fast six-duplet phrasing and the unison chromatic line that features in bars 25 and 33.
