HANK MARVIN: WHAMMY BAR PITCH BENDS
cd track 10
There are two basic concepts employed here: first up is the duane Eddy style bending used in the opening bars and repeated in bars 5 and 6. The ‘-2’ in the TAB indicates a tone drop in pitch achieved by ‘dipping’ then returning to pitch by using controlled whammy bar application. The second is the basic string bends featured in all other sections (note that ‘-1’ indicates that the third string’s pitch should be lowered by a semitone to F# using the bar).
