HANK MARVIN: MINOR PENTATONIC DOUBLE-STOPS
cd track 12
Hank also used the more traditional rock and roll minor Pentatonic doublestops (largely based on 4ths in the Chuck Berry manner). Play the double-stops with downpicks to create a driving, urgent delivery. You will find the single note passages are easier to play when using regular eighth note alternate picking. This example is typical of Hank later in his career when he used lighter strings and was able to bend more easily (as in bars 2 and 4).
