Get the Tone
Khan’s main guitar is an ’82 honey sunburst Gibson ES-335 strung comparatively light for a jazzer (.009-.042 roundwounds). His sound is big and warm so we’re looking for a full-bodied and balanced clean tone with an overdrive pedal for the rockier, sustaining moments. Not too much front-end gain though, as we don’t want to lose the fundamental note under a sea of fizz. Add a drizzle of reverb or light delay to taste.
