Many will remember ‘Shaky’ from the early 80s with rock and roll hits such as Green Door, This Ole House and Oh Julie. With Echoes Of Our Times, Shaky plies us with an appealing blend of Americana, folk and bluesy rock songs that are largely inspired by his family’s history. He draws on a broad variety of musicians, central to which is GT’s own Jon Bishop who plays mandolin, banjo, slide, acoustic and electric guitars. Opener, Down In The Hole is a great mid-tempo strummer while the title track has exquisite banjo and acoustic work throughout. Suffer Little Children is a soft blues with great licks (no solo sadly though!) while the uptempo Train Of Time is loaded with guitars and harmonica. Single and closing track, Last Man Alive finishes the album off a treat. Check him out on tour next year, and say hi to Jon!
