Using a Stones or country-style template, we deal here with semitone, tone (and more) along with double-stop and country ‘catch’ bends, as used by Joe Walsh in his part of the solo on Hotel California. These ideas can be transposed to any style with minimal fuss once you’ve nailed the basic techniques. But avoid too much gain until then, or you won’t truly feel in control, or even understand whether you’re doing it well or not.
