EXAMPLE2 Albert Collins
Albert Collins’s unorthodox use of a capo is an ingenious way to play open position-style licks in a variety of keys. Our backing track is in C, so the capo is placed at the 8th fret. The capo allows for an explosive style and the use of bass notes to start phrases. Check out the tab and you will see how the use of mute strokes helps to heighten the attack of the melody notes. Fingerstyle picking allows for greater facility across the strings and a very expressive tone.
