EX­AM­PLE 4 This ex­am­ple em­ploys two-string shapes that fol­low a 1-2 con­fig­u­ra­tion in CaGed shape #5. EX­AM­PLE 5 also in CaGed shape #5, this one fea­tures an as­cend­ing se­quence c2om­pris­ing 2-1 shapes. So far, we have looked at small shapes con­tained within a sin­gle oc­tave; how­ever, it is pos­si­ble to play sus4 shapes that ex­tend be­yond an oc­tave and the one shown here is very use­ful and also fea­tures in the fol­low­ing ex­am­ple.

EX­AM­PLE 6 now for a mix­ture of 1-2 and 2-1 shapes in CaGed shape #5. Make sure that you refer to the la­bels in the tran­scrip­tion so that you know which notes be­long to each sus4 triad.
