Yngwie Malmsteen introduced lateral arpeggios to rock guitar: mainly Major and Minor triads, and Dim 7th arpeggios. But the same principles can be applied to all other arpeggio types. Yngwie is great at weaving arpeggios seamlessly into the rest of his playing, and adding various forms of articulation to make them sound more expressive.
