To get the most out of this fea­ture, make sure you can play these scales in all five CaGed po­si­tions and fa­mil­iarise your­self with the sug­gested ap­pli­ca­tions:

Mi­nor Pen­ta­tonic:

b3-4-5- b7* r- (use in tonic po­si­tion over I, Iv and v; can also be trans­posed to start on root of v chord but can only be trans­posed to root of Iv in mi­nor keys).

Mixoly­dian Mode:

b7 r-2-3-4-5-6- (use in tonic po­si­tion over I chord, but can also be trans­posed to Iv and v chords).

Ma­jor Pen­ta­tonic:

r-2-3-5-6* (use in tonic po­si­tion over I and v, can be trans­posed to Iv and v chords also). *You can freely add the blues scale pass­ing note to both of these scales.

Phry­gian doM­i­nant Mode:

b2-3-4-5- b6- b7 r- (use in root po­si­tion over v7 al­tered chords - this is the same as play­ing the tonic Har­monic Mi­nor scale).

BB King ‘Blues Box’:

r-2-4-5-6 (use in tonic po­si­tion over all chords but only bend sec­ond string a semi­tone when ap­ply­ing to Iv chord).

suPer­locrian Mode:

b2- b3-3- b b b r- 5- 6- 7 (use in root po­si­tion over v7 alt chords - this is the same as play­ing the Melodic Mi­nor a semi­tone above the chord’s root).
