Us­ing a two-string pat­tern while skip­ping the string in-be­tween al­lows us a va­ri­ety of op­tions. One of the most widely used is this ma­jor/mi­nor 6th pat­tern, ar­ranged into a linear scale type pat­tern that would work well over ei­ther back­ing track. You’ll no­tice it as­cends on the fourth and sec­ond strings, skip­ping the third, then de­scends us­ing the third and first strings, skip­ping the sec­ond.
