I’m us­ing a lick sim­i­lar to this at the be­gin­ning of the sec­ond Ex­am­ple solo, based around the shape 1 Pen­ta­tonic and clos­ing the gap un­til we are play­ing ad­ja­cent strings, with no skip at all. This ex­er­cise demon­strates how you might trans­pose this ap­proach to shapes 2 and 3, though it could work equally well on shapes 4 and 5 too. If you’re a bit weak on shapes other than 1, 2 and 3, what bet­ter time to put in some work on them?
