EXAMPLE 1 SOLO 1 - BLUESY LICKS WITH REPETITION AND BENDS

Guitar Techniques - - LEARNING ZONE | FRANKMARINO -

This study is based on the A Minor Pentatonic scale (A-C-D-E-G) but dips into Blues scale territory with the addtion of an E, note (5) in bar 11. Marino tended to explore other colours beyond the Pentatonic and often did so by bending from a note within the scale. This is displayed with bar 13 as we bend from the note e to F#, which is the 5th degree to the 6th. The repetition found in bars 9 and 10 pulls us into psychedelic territory. To make this a little bit more ‘trippy’ you could try adding some modulation effects such as rotovibe.
