Def Leppard Hysteria 30th Anniversary Edition (Mercury)

30 years on from its release, Def Leppard’s fourth album, Hysteria, still sounds like it could be a band’s greatest hits collection – a mix of Mutt Lange’s finely honed studio detail and genuinely infectious rock. For those who can’t afford to splash out on the packed Super Deluxe Edition package (which includes five CDs, two DVDs and four books), the good news is that the highlight bonus of the audio from the Live: In the Round, In Your Face video release, available for the first time in this format, is also included with the three-CD Deluxe Version edition. It’s testament to how well the definitive Leppard duo of Phil Collen and Steve Clark could deliver Hysteria live, and that the band could never really be the same after Clark’s tragic passing in 1991. [DH] Standout track: Animal For fans of: Queen, Thin Lizzy
