The vintage and the natural acidity that most rieslings from the Eden Valley and Clare Valley have, was – and is – excellent, even if the style of this wine stands a little apart with its supple mouthfeel on the mid-palate tightening up when it needs to on the finish and aftertaste. 12% alc.

WINEMAKER Helen McCarthy What do you love about aged wine?

While it’s great to enjoy young riesling, I’m always excited to open a bottle of aged riesling from my cellar. The excitement of seeing how the wine has changed over time always makes drinking aged riesling special for me. The satisfaction of seeing a white wine that is relatively old but maintaining its youthful vibrancy sucks me in every time. My tip with riesling is to buy enough that you can open a bottle every few years to see how its progressing. If it's reached the point where the secondary characters are dominant, then it’s probably time to drink the rest – which is never a bad thing.
