From 20yo vines at the highest elevation on the Rosily vineyard at Wilyabrup. Matured for 24 months in French oak, 40% new, 60% 1yo. A beautifully composed wine from start to finish. Complexity of variety, region and oak on display, with blackcurrant, black olive, bay leaf, tobacco and cedar all in the mix. Deeply flavoured and firmly structured, it feels completely unforced and already in balance though its peak is still years away. Super impressive. 14% alc. SC

WINEMAKER Mick Scott What do you love about aged wine?

I am always surprised by how well Margaret River cabernets hold their fruit. The same array of blackcurrant and dark fruit that was present in the young wines easily persists for 20 years, becoming more convoluted and intricate as the wine ages and softens. It’s kind of like if you stashed a bag of your favourite lollies under the bed as a kid and then ate them 20 years later to find they were even yummier than you remembered.
