20yo vines, whole berries open-fer­mented, 4 days on skins, ma­tured in French oak for 18 months. Full crim­son-pur­ple; a medium to full-bod­ied pinot that has re­tained va­ri­etal ex­pres­sion in a plum/black cherry frame­work. The leisurely de­vel­op­ment of its ’12 sib­ling re­in­forces the idea that this wine has ex­cel­lent po­ten­tial, as it is bet­ter than the ’12 was when first tasted. 13.5% alc.

OWNER AND WINE­MAKER John Boucher What can you tell us about this wine’s pro­duc­tion?

Our MV6 vines were hand-pruned and main­tained, then hand-picked early morn­ing in late March. It went into the open vat, with 20 per cent whole­bunches. It spent eight days in the open fer­menter, with reg­u­lar plung­ing, and then 11 months in French and Hun­gar­ian oak to ma­ture.
