Cellar excitement

Halliday - - Mail - Nina Odgers, Broome, WA

I have never been so excited to receive and read an edition of your magazine as with the recent cellaring issue (June/ July). I live in Broome, where buying and cellaring wine is a difficult hobby, and this edition gave really useful tips that showed me I am on the right track. My father whetted my interest in wine many years ago, but inflamed it back in 2007 when he inadvertently drank my bottle of 1996 Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz while I was on holiday! He replaced it with a slightly later vintage, which cost him $186, and I was hooked – we drank that wine together just before I moved from Alice Springs to Broome. I started collecting semiseriously back in 2012 with a 70-bottle wine fridge;

I now have three that size, which are bursting at the seams. I mainly have shiraz, but also cabernet sauvignon, GSM, grenache, tempranillo, Barolo, Rioja and nero d’Avola, to name a few others. My greatest pleasure is being able to drink good wine in the good company of like-minded friends. Thank you again for such a seriously good issue.
