2016 Woodvale M.C.D. Clare Valley Grenache

Named after Kevin Mitchell’s maternal grandfather, Maurice Charles Duke of Penwortham who, among other things, grew grapes. From two vineyards planted ’50 and ’52, hand-picked, matured in used French hogsheads for 15 months, 250 dozen made. Bright, clear crimson; it’s got great perfume, and the varietal fruit is in full song, with red fruits of every description. 14.5% alc.
