LEG WORK

Harper’s Bazaar (Australia) - - Inbox -

I am one week post major hamstring-tendon surgery, reading your March edition, which I had bought in preparation for my long recovery and rehabilitation period.this is not a sympathy plea, rather a huge compliment to your attitude of embracing a woman who is a little down for the moment but not out. I am referring to you including the beautiful model Ally, on crutches and with her leg in a cast, in the “Under Construction” photoshoot. In pain and a bit teary (hating my full-length leg brace), I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw her with crutches and stylish black cast in your glossy pages! It was the last thing I expected. Sincerest congratulations on being accommodating and flexible in selecting Ally for this shoot. In doing so, you’re promoting subliminally that we can get up, get dressed, get on with it (as much as we can) and look and feel beautiful, no matter what. Life is 10 per cent what happens to us and 90 per cent how we react to it. I have a long, long way to go, but thank you, BAZAAR, for putting a smile on my face when I needed it. Wendy, Queensland
